Anyone who spends a lot of time on the bike knows how personal the topic of saddle comfort can be. And if you’ve ever had that nagging feeling of “something just isn’t right down there,” you’ll understand the huge relief when you finally find the one pair of bibs that solves the problem. Gonso teamed up with the ergonomics experts at SQlab and tackled exactly that issue. I had the chance to test the SQlab GO Bib and the new Road Jersey for Bike-Discount. Two products that aren’t just well thought out, but also show how much Gonso has evolved in recent years.

First impression: Unusual chamois, great curiosity
When I first unpacked the bibs, my initial thought was: “How is this supposed to work?” The chamois feels unusually thin and firm – almost like they intentionally left out the soft padding feeling. Compared to what you usually get, it’s a complete contrast. But the shape looked ergonomic and sparked curiosity. Time for the first test.
Real-world experience on the trainer and on the road
I deliberately started indoors on the trainer, because that’s where I quickly notice if a chamois works for me or not. Surprisingly, there was no discomfort, no chafing, no numbness – so it was time to head outside. Even on the road, especially during long endurance rides, the positive impression remained consistent. The chamois performs exceptionally well without constantly making its presence known. I’ve tried many bibs over the years, but this one is currently the best for me. It fits comfortably, the chamois is top-notch, and it just feels right. I can finally say that I’ve reached the end of my search for the perfect bib padding.
Craftsmanship & wearing comfort
The craftsmanship of the bibs is also impressive. The straps are soft and comfortable, fitting well without digging in. I especially like the slightly longer leg length with the dotted silicone grippers that prevent slipping. One small critique: the iconic white “G” on the back looks great, but unfortunately, it starts peeling off after a few rides and washes – likely due to the type of print. A more durable solution or a different printing method would be a welcome improvement. Still, this bib remains my clear number one.
Gonso Road Jersey in everyday testing
To go with it, I tested the new Road Jersey. Visually, it brings fresh colors and looks much more modern than earlier Gonso designs. It has a sporty fit without feeling restrictive. I particularly like the fit around the hips and shoulders. My personal rule: a jersey doesn’t need to make sense when standing – it needs to work when riding. In my size, a jersey should sit over the hip bones when I’m standing so it fits perfectly on the bike. That’s exactly the case here.
The rear pockets are at a comfortable height and easy to reach, so you’re not forced into an impromptu yoga session every time you feel a hunger knock. They offer enough space for everything you need on a ride, without sagging. If you like being prepared for anything and tend to carry a lot while training, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth. The waistband sits securely, and the sleeves are pleasantly long – something I really appreciate. Also, the small fabric cover over the zipper at the collar is a nice detail that you quickly learn to love.
The only thing missing for the perfect training jersey, in my opinion, is a small zip pocket for coffee money. If that’s important to you, check out the STITIVO jersey by Gonso, which has a race-fit and features aero sleeves.
Conclusion: A strong duo for long rides
All in all, the combination of the SQlab GO Bib and the Road Jersey from Gonso makes for a really strong kit. For me, the bib offers the best chamois I’ve ever ridden, and the jersey complements it perfectly with its fit, function, and comfort. If you’re looking for a new setup for long, carefree miles on the bike, you should definitely take a closer look at this duo. You won’t get me out of these bibs anytime soon.
