From late summer into the cool autumn, I had the chance to test the Endura MT500 collection – from helmet to shoes. After just a few kilometers, one thing was clear: this series is perfectly coordinated and made for demanding mountain bikers.

The Endura MT500 Gear in Detail
MT500 Waterproof MTB Pants
I started with the MT500 Waterproof MTB Pants in size L. The material is robust yet flexible – just right for moving a lot. The pants reliably block wind and spray but remain breathable. Especially practical: the side ventilation zippers, which provide fresh air on longer climbs.
MT500 Freezing Point Gloves
The MT500 Freezing Point Gloves offered good cold protection but were a bit too snug for me in size L. This caused the inner lining to roll up slightly when putting them on. Once they are on properly, they offer top grip and warm comfort – ideal for cold, dry rides.
MT500 Polartec Jacket
I felt really comfortable in the MT500 Polartec Jacket. The material keeps you pleasantly warm without overheating and wicks sweat away very well. The extended back protects from spray, and the athletic cut ensures plenty of freedom of movement. A perfect mid-season jacket for cool days.
The Highlight: MT500 Burner Flat Waterproof Shoes
The absolute highlight, however, was the MT500 Burner Flat Waterproof Shoes in size 46. They fit like a glove, offer excellent cushioning, and extremely good grip on flat pedals – even on damp surfaces. Plus, my feet stayed completely dry without the shoe feeling stiff. After several hours, my feet still felt relaxed – I’ve rarely worn such comfortable MTB shoes!
MT500 Spray Trousers
For the warmer parts of the ride, the MT500 Spray Trousers in size XL came into play. Light, flexible, and with lots of freedom of movement – ideal when you want protection but don’t need full rain pants. The reinforced seat area reliably repels spray.
MT500 Advanced Rain Jacket
The MT500 Advanced Rain Jacket proved to be an absolute pro for weather protection. The ExoShell40DR fabric doesn’t just feel robust; it delivers top-tier specs with a 20,000 mm waterproof rating and an extremely high breathability rating of 40,000 g/m²/24h. It has a slightly slimmer cut but fits perfectly with a mid-layer.
The biker-specific details are truly well-thought-out: the hood fits easily over a helmet, silicone grippers on the shoulders keep a backpack in place, and the soft Lycra inner cuffs block the wind. They even included a lift pass pocket on the sleeve and an integrated lens wipe. Ventilation is massive thanks to the backpack-compatible 2-way zips. Another bonus: the DWR treatment is PFC-free.
MT500 MIPS Helmet
The test was rounded off by the MT500 MIPS Helmet: light, super ventilated, and barely noticeable even after hours. The MIPS system provides additional safety without compromising comfort.
Conclusion
The Endura MT500 series impresses with function, comfort, and thoughtful design. The Burner Flat Waterproof Shoes and the MIPS Helmet are particular highlights. Anyone looking for maximum performance, even on cool days, will be completely satisfied with the MT500 collection.
